Recent technological developments have accelerated biomarker discovery efforts, leading to novel findings not only at the gene and protein levels, but also within the epigenome, transcriptome, and beyond. However, integrating these discoveries into care can be difficult, as multifaceted diseases like cancer have a host of diagnostic, prognostic, predictive, and phamacodynamic biomarkers to screen for. Having biomarker information on multiple levels can greatly assist clinical decision making, but acquiring and interpreting said information places a burden on clinical logistics.
